Franziska Sarah Layritz is an assistant director and lives in Mainz.
In 2012, she completed her studies in theater and media studies and German studies at the University of Bayreuth. Her research focus was on interdisciplinarity and interaction between different artistic genres. She gained her first practical experience as an intern at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and the ZKM | Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe.
After moving to Vietnam in 2015, she continued to work on community-based cultural projects and finally organized the Faifoo Film Fest in Hoi An, central Vietnam, in 2019. The festival was dedicated to German and Vietnamese cinema. She also worked for a gallery in Saigon and Hoi An, taught middle school theater at Green Shoots International School Hoi An and volunteered as Country Coordinator Vietnam for Fashion Revolution, the world's largest fashion activism movement.
Since the 2021/22 season, she has been working as an assistant director at Staatstheater Mainz. There she assisted K.D. Schmidt, Christian Brey and Jan Neumann, among others. In the 2022/23 season, the youth club under her direction with the presentation I/ΕΓΏ/NGAI/أنا to the national meeting of youth clubs at theaters under the motto Unique. Diverse invited.
Franziska is currently studying MA Media Dramaturgy at JGU Mainz, with a personal focus on inclusive, post-migrant, and German-Vietnamese discourses.
